Locate the central locking motor, its covered in browny greenish foam on the
nearside of the vehicle (passenger side) for those of us in the UK unlike what
the instructions say, in the little cubby hole with your sub and possibly your
CD changer! Cut off the cable tie and remove the unit from the cubby hole.
Turn the unit upside down and remove the three connectors from the unit (see
photo).
Connect the new and old wiring loom together and the push back into the central
locking motor. Make sure that you push them in firmly, it requires a little
effort.
With this in place plug in the new remote locking control box and set all the
dip switches apart from no.2 to off.
Grab your first remote, hold down both of the buttons until the led on the remote
stops flashing. Then press the lock button. Repeat for the 2nd remote.
Switch the dip switch no.2 off and take all keys and remotes out of the car,
then try locking and unlocking the car. Hopefully everything should work first
time (it did for me).
If all is good all you need to do now is to find a home for the remote control
unit and put everything back. If things aren't working check the connectors
into the central locking motor and redo the programming of the remote.
To mount the unit, I modified the mounting hole so that it would fit onto an
existing bolt holding up some wiring. If you didn't want to do that you could
tuck it in behind the central locking motor or beneath the sub.
Wrap the central locking motor back up in it's foam and cable tie it on firmly,
then stick it back in its hole and clover the cover. Job done!
It is also possible to wire the unit into the indicators. I didn't bother as
my A3 beeps at me to tell me its locked. All you have to do is insert the two
supplied wires into the control multiplug in the positions shown in the manual
and then crimp them onto the matching coloured wires in the car wiring loom
(If you look in the photo you can make out the green and black wire).
Additional note: for A3 to activate the window closure system, switch number 3 must be set to the on position. Thanks to Barry for the tip!!!
